ADVOCACY ALERT: Act Now to Support “Set Aside” Transformation Funds Bills

June 11, 2019

Act Now to Support Bills Dedicating at Least 25% of
Transformation Funds to Community Providers

Earlier this month, we reported that the NYS Council has spearheaded an advocacy effort and brought together a coalition of over 20 partner organizations that have been strongly advocating for dedicated Health Care Transformation Fund (HCTF) allocations to behavioral health and other community-based providers.  Senate Health Chair Gustavo Rivera is sponsoring in Senate and Assembly Health Committee Chair Richard Gottfried is the sponsor in the Assembly.

PLEASE ACT NOW and urge your legislators to pass S.6376/A.7977-A.

The Home Care Association (HCA) has created a writing campaign on their Legislative Action Center for all groups to use to send a letter with a quick push of the button to advocate for this bill.  Input your contact information and an email will be sent to your state senator and assembly member asking them to work with their colleagues and pass the bill this session.

We continue to work to educate lawmakers regarding the more than two decade long investment drought we’ve experienced.  S.6376/A.7977-A would assure a minimum 25% dedication of existing HCTF allocations for community-care provider stability and innovation. Earlier this year, $675 million in HCTF investments were allocated to most hospitals and nursing homes. The coalition is calling for a proportionate share to providers of behavioral health, home care, hospice, disability and other services.

If you have any questions about the bill, please contact Lauri Cole, Executive Director, at 518-461-8200 or at lauri@nyscouncil.org.
