Hill Day 2018 is Around the Corner!

The NYS Council is pleased to be serving once again as one of the NY State Captains for the upcoming 2018 Hill Day being held on 4/25- immediately following the National Council Conference which runs from 4/23-4/25.

NYS Council members had a strong showing at Hill Day 2017 this past fall, and we look forward to having many of you join us in April to make our voices heard and advocate for the preservation and expansion of behavioral health services, protection of Medicaid and funding for solutions to the opioid crisis.

In the past few months we’ve seen our advocacy on the Federal level pay significant dividends. Many of you joined us in advocating against measures that would seek to: cut, cap and/or block grant Medicaid; repeal and replace the ACA; make significant cuts to agencies and programs that behavioral health service provider rely on. Those efforts must continue as Congress looks towards the FY19 budget.

The NYS Council continues to work hard with Congressman Tonko on bill language that seeks to expand access to critically important medication-assisted treatment. We spear-headed statewide advocacy providing recommendations as to how the $6B set aside to address the opioid crisis should be allocated. These efforts are crucial to maintaining the strength and integrity of our service delivery system and ensuring ongoing access to and continuity of care. Coordinated, visible and ongoing advocacy are the most effective means of reaching these goals.

Register Today and Join Us in D.C.!

If you’ve already registered for NatCon ’18 make sure in your attendee portal that you’re also signed up to participate in Hill Day. If you haven’t registered yet you can do so here.

If you’re not planning on attending the National Council Conference this year BUT you do want to participate in Hill Day, you can sign up via the NatCon registration page (there is an option to register JUST for Hill Day).

We encourage as many members as possible to send at least one staff person to participate in the Hill Day visits!
