Drastic Budget Cuts Expected Mid May
On May 15, the Cuomo administration is expected to detail those deep cuts (discussed in the recently released state Financial Plan) to the State Budget barring any Federal assistance for State and local governments. State lawmakers would then have 10 days to make any legislative changes. The new fiscal year for school budgets begins July 1 so there will be an urgency for the legislature to either approve the Governor’s plan or pivot to alternative savings measures.
