NYS Council members are strongly encouraged to come to Albany on February 4-5 to attend our 2020 Advocacy Day and Annual Business Meeting. The executive budget proposal is due to be released during the third week of January making early visits with lawmakers that much more impactful!



The NYS Council Annual Business Meeting on February 4 will also feature Brett Friedman, Director of Strategic Initiatives in the Office of Health Insurance Programs at the Department of Health. In this newly created position, he uses his experience and expertise to focus on Medicaid initiatives. We look forward to introducing Mr. Friedman to our members and engaging him in a conversation to share our insights and ideas, as well as our concerns, for the future of the individuals we serve each day.Mr. Friedman previously served as a partner in the health care practice group of Ropes & Gray. Mr. Friedman has significant experience in advising clients on a variety of complex transactional, enforcement and regulatory matters within the health care industry. He has particular experience counseling both payer and provider clients in responding to the transition to accountable care and value-based payment, including the development of provider risk-bearing organizations, Accountable Care Organizations, independent practice associations, and other integrated delivery networks. Mr. Friedman received his JD from The George Washington University Law School and his BA, summa cum laude, from Brandeis University, Phi Beta Kappa. He is co-author of Bloomberg BNA’s Health Law & Business Series Portfolio 2100, Health Care Mergers and Acquisitions: The Transactional Perspective, 2nd edition.
